Sheet Metal Manufacturing is extensively employed in Automotive & Auto Components, Aerospace, Construction Equipment, Construction Materials, General Engineering Industry, Furniture, Consumer Durables, Electrical- Electronics, Appliances.
Graduate and Post Graduate Students find CAD-CAM, Simulation and Software Services as an attractive career option for high profile job in India and abroad. While there are lot of employers and Training providers in Software Tools the incumbents lack the practical exposure to manufacturing tools, equipment, quality issues and properties of materials. Most young professionals are being born into this sector with their DNA remaining deficient in the practical Industrial orientation.
Most educational institutes very briefly cover sheet metal forming and press tools from simplistic and academic perspective hence it comes nowhere near the requirements of manufacturing industry. In industries learning comes “on the job” hence professionals get very limited view from their specific context and it takes a very long gestation period to master the domain with adequate depth and breadth.
Keeping this in view, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (IMTMA) is organizing 12 day program on “Foundation Course on Manufacturing with Sheet Metal” at Pune to give an illustrative hands-on exposure to the entire process & equipment for mass manufacturing a fairly complex sheet part, including tryout of entire set of Dies for manufacturing of individual sheet metal component and its inspection. It would also give insights into further assembly and surface finishing aspect at product level. This would be followed up and supplemented by another 2 weeks course on “Die Design and Simulation”.
