Newer Manufacturing Strategies using Multitasking & 5 axis CNC Machines - IMTMA/T010

Programme Background

Multitasking is one of the hottest machine concepts for producing quality complex parts for industries as diverse as aerospace, oil and energy, medical, and off-highway, construction, and farm equipment, as well as general engineering. Multitasking machines [MTM] consolidate operations in one setup, make more efficient use of resources, realize the pursuit of done-in-one and one-pass machining, minimize tolerance stack-up, and eliminate repetitive fixturing and dead transportation time, as well as reducing the throughput time.

Similarly 5 axis machining finds wide spread applications in aerospace, energy and medical machining. At the same time they are one of the most difficult machine tools to learn and use. With India emerging as an important hub for aerospace manufacturing, adopting these newer manufacturing concepts with Multi tasking and 5 axis machines, is more crucial now.

Focus Areas
  • Multi tasking machines and their applications; Types of multi tasking machines; Turn mill centres, Y axis machines.
  • Case studies and examples for MTMs with B axis, double turret, etc.
  • 5 axis Machine configurations - 3+2 and simultaneous machining types; case studies and examples illustrating different applications
  • Capabilities and Applications of 5 axis machines
  • Machine Simulation for 5 axis machining
  • Quick change fixturing for 5 axis machines
  • Balancing of Tools and Holders for 5 axis machines
  • Live Demo of machining in multi tasking and 5 axis machines

Note : Factory visit of participants will be subjected to the approval of the hosting industry.
