A defect in a product or service can have multiple undesirable effects like increasing own cost of products and services, delivery failure, making it unfit for use, loss of business and serious accidents. Hence a defect depending on its severity, can have far reaching undesirable consequences. Hence Prevention is always better than Detection. Detection is like a post-mortem on an already dead body which doesn’t add any value to either producer or customer. We can’t recover the loss that have already incurred. That is why global leaders like Toyota invest their maximum efforts on defect prevention and also promote ‘stop and fix’ as a culture. Customers always ask for right products at right time with competitive prices. With defect, that is not possible. Cost is inversely proportional to Quality. An organization who doesn’t focus enough on prevention, can lose more than 25% of Sales value due to internal and external quality related failure cost. A quality complaint can lead to multiple ripple effects that can impact 10 X or more than just the replacement cost.

The course is structured with introduction to basics of Hydraulics system to complete design. Design of Hydraulics is key to effective utilization of any Mechanical Application. Hydraulics design if not implemented correctly results in poor performance & quality problems during running. Conceptualization w.r.t the actual requirement in terms of force, speed and safety is very essential during design. Selection of hydraulic elements, sizing of elements, calculations for optimization, design of entire system is very vital in any mechanical industry. Assembly of hydraulic elements, hydraulic plumbing, machine interface and trouble shooting is key requirement.
