Manufacturing Excellence through SPC and Problem Solving Tools

Date : 28 to 29 May, 2019

@ 12/5, D1 Block, MIDC Chinchwad, Pune

Variation in any manufacturing process is inevitable but needs to be controlled. If external or assignable causes of variations are excluded, the natural causes are restricted to a combination of variations due to machines, tools, methods, materials and people who work at the workplace. Statistical Process Control (SPC) is a technique to enable measurement and analysis of the variations at the workplace and try and control the same at optimum levels. While SPC techniques involve extensive use of various types of control charts, an understanding of all the basic seven quality tools helps in a better understanding and implementation of SPC.
Keeping this in view, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (IMTMA) is organising a 2 day programme on Manufacturing Excellence thro SPC and Problem Solving Tools on 28-29 May 2019 at Pune.

Focus Areas

1) Fundamentals of Statistics
• Measures of central tendency and spread
• Types of frequency distributions
• Evaluation of discrete data and grouped data (throughexample)
• Concepts of probability
• Statistical decision making
• Acceptance sampling (sampling plans)
2) Objectives and benefits of SPC
3) Understanding of common and special causes
4) PDCA Approach
5) Basic 7 QC Tools
• Check sheet
• Stratification
• Brainstorming and Pareto chart
• Cause and Effect diagram
• Graphs and control charts
• Histograms
• Scatter diagrams
6) Machine and process capability
7) Application of control charts for variables
8) Application of control charts for attributes
9) Analysis of control charts

Participant Profile

This programme will make engineers understand and appreciate benefits of SPC. Many times, even experienced engineers have difficulties in understanding and implementing SPC techniques. It will benefit Quality managers, engineers, and technicians, project engineers, manufacturing engineers, technical specialists and anyone with responsibility for product or process control who want to apply SPC in the workplace should attend this programme.
Note : Participants are requested to bring a scientific calculator to be used during the programme.

This programme will be conducted by Mr. Pramod Y. Deo, an industry expert having 38+ years of experience in the area of Manufacturing, Supplier quality and Quality systems. He was head of Quality Engineering function as well as Metrology and Metallurgy Labs at TATA Motors. He has worked with major Automotive OEMs like Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra and Bosch.
