Automotive world is constantly exploring possibilities of producing complex sheet metal parts with more precision, less cost and higher productivity. Fine blanking is perfect recipe for the same. The fine blanking process involves a total of three forces, which distinguish this technology from other punching or cutting processes. Fineblanking creates smooth, quadrilateral, crack- and burr-free fineblanked surfaces, thus allows extremely complex, ready-for-assembly, multifunctional parts to be produced cost-effectively.

Fundamental knowledge of fine blanking is very important to design engineers and component buyers. Once they understand process capabilities, they can adopt this technology to develop new parts with more functional capabilities.

Buyers of fine blanking parts needs to understand various post processes and cost associated with it. New trends will guide them to understand how to minimize post blanking operations and improve raw material utilization.

Keeping this in view, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (IMTMA) is organizing a 1-day programme on “Fundamentals of Fine blanking and Recent trends” on 6 August 2019 at Chennai.
