Powder Metallurgy is one of the modern most technology which is practiced in India since late 18th century for manufacturing various products for precision requirement. One should understand the actual technique of Manufacturing using Powder Metallurgy and numerous applications which are very popular. This technology is being talked about too much less compared to other manufacturing methods like Machining, casting, forging, etc., even though the application of this technology is very wide. There are many applications of powder metallurgy like cutting tools, Mining tools, automotive components, Aircraft components, wear components, etc.

Keeping this in view, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (IMTMA) is organizing a 2 day programme on “Powder Metallurgy and its applications” on 26 and 27 September 2019 at Bangalore.

This Program will be conducted by Mr. K.G.S.PRASAD RAO

Mr. Prasad Rao is a Graduate Metallurgy in Metallurgy faculty from IISc Bangalore, Started career in 1983 at M/S Sundram Fasteners Ltd, Hosur a TVS group of company pioneered manufacturing automotive components with powder metals (iron) at their R&D , Later worked as a superintendent R&D at M/S Andhra Sinters Ltd, Hyderabad manufacturing Automotive components, Nonferrous components and wear pads for air crafts using powder metallurgy. Further worked at M/S Indicarb Ltd, Hosur, Manufacturing Tungsten carbide cutting tools and Mining tools as a ‘Head Hard Metal plant’. Worked at Rapicut Carbides ltd, Ankaleshwar as R&D Head company manufacturing cutting tools and mining tools. Has been working with various manufacturing industries for past 30 years both in India and Abroad. Last employment with M/S Altair, Malaysia as a ‘Technical Director’. Presently practicing as a Consultant Metallurgist.
