Introduction

Hot Forming is becoming vitally important technology for Automotive and Aerospace Sector since it enables Light-weighting with use of Higher Strength Material.
To start with this technology have been dismissed as “too Futuristic”, “Costly and Complicated’ and “to be minimally used and outsourced where it must be used”

Now it is becoming increasing clear that the technology is here to stay and grow and sooner than later it has to be adapted to owing to intensifying quest for:

  • Ever tightening norms for emission, crashworthiness and quest for mileage and Pick-up for automobiles
  • Minimizing Carbon Foot Print for Aeroplanes through its life
  • Can Railways stay far behind?

Mr. Avinash Khare is Former Asst. General Manager at Tata Motors, Pune. He has 33 years of experience in various functions involving Technology Development, Maintenance, Capex and resource management, Die Design and Business Excellence. Now he is working with IMTMA as a Consultant & Head of Technology Centre on Metal-forming at Pune.

Mr.Karl Peter Mikael Karlsson is Managing Director for AP&T Denmark/UK since 2001 and also Key Account Manager around the world.
